At Zahonero, we have a sustainability policy with a special focus on raw materials, the manufacturing processes of our products and the quality of our employees’ lives.
To reduce the environmental effect of production, we aim to use superior materials with less waste and less energy and water use .
Recycled products Zero Waste and Bio Based for total circularity_
Short Term_
Second chance for waste
A new life for products and residues from traditional production.
We use raw materials from recycled products from other industries and applications, where linear production produces a large amount of waste.
Medium Term_
Circularity
Zero waste and renewable products (bio-based).
We employ the trash from our production process and goods at the end of their life cycle to produce solutions, which enables waste to be eliminated and reused as valuable raw resources.
On the other hand, we use raw materials of renewable origin (bio-based), reducing the use of fossil resources.
Long Term_
Zero Impact
Solutions with a negative environmental impact and devoid of virgin fossil raw materials.
According to Zahonero´s ideology, a product should be completely circular, with some components derived from closed-cycle recycling and the remainder from renewable sources. The production operations will use the least amount of land and minimal energy, and they will be fueled by renewable energy sources and avoid eutrophication or acidification of the water.
In the long term, the processes will be low energy intensive, powered by renewable energy and without water eutrophication.
Our journey to a circular economy_
Collaborative Innovation
A circular economy requires the commitment and the cooperation of all participants in the Industry.
As an agent of change, we should become a force to Re-use, Repair, and Recycle products into an endless cycle. To make the change possible, we must coordinate efforts with designers, end-users, and waste collectors. The final goal is turning waste into valuable raw materials with processes that generate minimal environmental and social impact.
Sustainability_
Targets 2022
Sustainability at Zahonero is not a department, a person, or a task.
Our concept of sustainability is transversal, so it is present in the overall strategy that covers both human, organizational and industrial aspects.
Designing together a more sustainable and comfortable world_
Targets 2025
SDG Commitment
Following our accession to the United Nations Global Compact in 2021, the SDGs are incorporated both in strategic decision-making and in the group’s new projects. We have selected as a priority those with the greatest environmental impact:
Social commitment to the team
Stability, equality, flexibility, training, work-life balance and security.
In 2022, the number of employees and their gender composition remained stable as a result of our commitment to training and consolidating our workforce.
Regarding the previous year, the percentage of women with permanent contracts has increased by 10%, reducing the gap in employment stability between the two genders.
In addition, the company has continued with its work-life balance measures, adopting intensive and flexible work shifts.
And as a middle management training program and cultural transformation experience, Zahonero Academy began its journey in Brazil, and recently underwent its third iteration, which took place in Spain.
SECTORAL, EDUCATIONAL, TECHNOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL PARTNERSHIPS
Environmental commitment to the Planet
Eco-design, recycling, natural raw materials, supplier selection, water and energy efficiency
We are dedicated to using local suppliers.
We have started calculating scope 3´s carbon footprint, implemented recycling strategies that have prevented the production of 5 tons of CO2, and, with the help of approved waste managers, completely disposed of hazardous trash.
The business has started to generate its own solar energy and has put in place wastewater treatment projects that enable water recycling.
